Comedian and television personality Rosie O'Donnell has once again publicly criticized President Donald Trump, saying his State of the Union address left her physically ill and emotionally shaken, despite the two now living on different sides of the Atlantic.

O’Donnell appeared on MSNBC hours before Trump delivered his State of the Union speech on February 24, 2026. During the appearance, she mocked the president’s demeanor and commented on his appearance, referencing lingering attention on his ear following the 2024 assassination attempt. O’Donnell said later that watching the speech made her so upset she “couldn’t eat for hours,” describing herself as “sick to my stomach” after hearing what she characterized as lies.

The remarks came just weeks after O’Donnell confirmed she had moved to Ireland, relocating days before Trump’s January 2025 inauguration. Despite the distance, the long-running feud between the two quickly flared again.

The following morning, Trump responded on Truth Social, attacking O’Donnell with personal insults and questioning her ability to return to the United States. In the same post, he also took aim at actor Robert De Niro, who had appeared emotional during televised commentary that night, comparing the two critics and dismissing both.

The exchange revived one of the most enduring celebrity-political feuds in modern American culture. The conflict between O’Donnell and Trump began in 2006 during her time on The View, when she criticized Trump’s business record and public persona. Trump responded at the time with repeated personal attacks, setting off years of public sparring.

Nearly twenty years later, the dynamic remains unchanged. Trump now occupies the presidency once again, while O’Donnell has left the country altogether. Yet their rhetoric continues to intersect, underscoring how deeply personal and long-lasting political rivalries can become in the age of social media and nonstop media coverage.
