From the age of three, Alena displayed exceptional academic abilities, reading far beyond the level of children her age and quickly emerging as a standout student. Her accelerated learning path was only the beginning of a journey that would inspire millions.

By age eleven, Alena was already taking high school classes while most kids her age were just beginning middle school. The pace didn’t slow—at twelve, she attended two colleges simultaneously, making headlines for her extraordinary academic progress. Her ambition and talent continued to shine as she earned early graduation and delved deeper into her passion for science and medicine.

At just thirteen, Alena made history, becoming the youngest Black student ever accepted into medical school. Her acceptance into University of Alabama at Birmingham Heersink School of Medicine marked a groundbreaking milestone—not only for her, but for the visibility of young Black girls in STEM fields. Alena’s dream of becoming a doctor was no longer a distant goal but a rapidly approaching reality.

Despite her fast-paced academic life, Alena maintained a balanced childhood. Supported by her family and mentors, she engaged in activities typical of teenagers while also excelling in advanced STEM programs. Her achievements include an internship at NASA, where she explored her love for science even further. She also founded Brown STEM Girl, an empowering platform created to uplift girls of color pursuing STEM education.

By age fifteen, Alena had already earned her bachelor's degree in biomedical science—a feat many achieve in their early twenties. In 2024, her academic journey reached another milestone when she was accepted into the prestigious UAB Heersink School of Medicine, further solidifying her place as one of the youngest medical students in modern history.

Now sixteen, Alena carries a message that resonates deeply with young people worldwide. “What is age?” she wrote. “You're not too young to do anything. I feel like I have proven to myself that I can do anything that I put my heart and mind to.”
