Authorities in China have executed three men convicted of severe crimes against children in a single day, a move officials say marks the beginning of a broader crackdown and sends a clear message of “zero tolerance” for abuse involving minors.

According to official court statements, all three executions were approved by the Supreme People’s Court, which also ordered the cases to be made public as a warning. The court emphasized that no appeals were granted and that the sentences were carried out swiftly following final review.

The first case involved a man who operated an illegal education center, where he detained dozens of students under his control. Prosecutors said he raped eight girls over an extended period, including three who were under the age of 14. Court findings stated that he forced the victims to take contraceptives to conceal the abuse, which occurred repeatedly over several months.

The second man was convicted after using social media platforms to contact children by posing as a talent scout. Authorities said he targeted and assaulted nine children, including one with a disability, and recorded the abuse. Investigators described the case as part of a growing trend of offenders using online platforms to exploit minors, a concern Chinese officials say they are now aggressively addressing.

The third execution involved a repeat offender with a prior rape conviction. According to court records, he created fake online accounts, infiltrated school-related chat groups, and lured young girls to meet him. Prosecutors said he organized and participated in the gang rape of a child under 14 on three separate occasions, highlighting what the court described as an extreme and ongoing threat to public safety.

All three men were sentenced to death, and the Supreme People’s Court released a brief statement following the executions that read simply: “No mercy for those who harm children.” Legal analysts say the unusually public nature of the announcement is intended to reinforce the government’s hardline stance and deter similar crimes.

China’s use of the death penalty, particularly in cases involving violence against minors, remains controversial internationally. Human rights organizations continue to criticize capital punishment, while Chinese authorities argue that the severity of such crimes justifies the harshest penalties under domestic law. Officials maintain that protecting children and maintaining social order are national priorities.

The executions come amid broader efforts by Chinese authorities to crack down on sexual crimes against minors, including stricter sentencing guidelines and increased surveillance of online activity. State media has framed the cases as emblematic of a renewed campaign to eliminate what officials describe as “hidden dangers” to children.

As the government signals further enforcement actions, the cases have sparked intense debate both inside and outside China over criminal justice, deterrence, and the role of capital punishment in addressing crimes against children.
